This important centre is also located in the Finca La Aurora park, close to the airport. This project was set up to promote Guatemalan history and its deep-running cultural roots. The mission of the National Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology is to preserve the history of the country through its archaeological remains. It is also one of the most important centres of Mayan culture, with numerous artistic artefacts and everyday objects on display from this pre-Columbian civilisation. Its collection includes over 25,000 pieces that date back around 3,000 years, representing a fascinating journey through time until the arrival of the Spanish. If you're a fan of ancient cultures, you'll have a great time here.
