The Joaquin Antonio Uribe Botanical Garden of Medellín

Medellín's lungs

Pay attention nature lovers because this enclave will become one of your best memories of Medellín. The Joaquin Antonio Uribe Botanical Garden of Medellín is home to one of the largest flower collections in the country, and gives shelter to more than a thousand different species. Its natural wealth is beyond comparison, offering interesting collections that represent the most diverse ecosystems such as a tropical forest, the famous palm tree garden, medicinal garden, and a vertical garden. Don't miss the special 'Casa de las Mariposas' (butterfly house) either. The most attractive part, however, is the 'Orchideorama' (Orchidiarium), which is a modern architectural area where the orchid, being the national flower of Colombia is the main attraction: we're talking about a place where design and nature come together to create the most intriguing environment. It's a green area in the middle of the city centre, a place where you can walk round without a care but to breathe fresh air and enjoy some exceptional landscapes.
