Bell Museum in Meruelo

Ding dong!

Did you know that the Cantabrian bell-making tradition is a hundred years old, and that these bells have been exported all over the world? This is one of the most unusual museums you will find on our trip to this region. The Spanish Cathedrals in Santiago, Pamplona and Toledo are hundreds of years old, and house enormous Cantabrian bells that are now protected, due to their unique sound, which you will hear for yourself. It is for this reason that Meruelo, a village in the east of the Trasmiera region, opened the Meruelo Bell Museum several years ago. It offers a spectacular exhibition and journey through time, with explanations as to why this zone that was named after the seven villas is so well known for the production of these bells. They date back to the 15th century and have been sought after by every continent, particularly South America, where many were exported during its period of evangelism. You’ll never have seen anything like it.
