Ethnographic Pasiegan Villa Museum in Vega de Pas
The Pasiegan zone is interesting and beautiful. This museum is just one example of what you would find there.
The interior part of the region is called the Pasiega zone. This includes the Miera Valleys, Pas and Pisueña, where the Pasiegans live. These inhabitants hold one of the strongest and most important cultures when it comes to the Cantabrian identity. The region is renowned for many aspects, from its famous gastronomy (such as quesadas, ice cream and sobao cakes), to its unusual, hundred-year-old shacks, which are still inhabited to this day. At the heart of Vega de Pas, you will find the Museum of the Three Villas of Vega de Pas. It is located in San Antonio Chapel, a building that dates back to the 18th century. This museum aims to support and demonstrate the Pasiegan culture and identity through its three most important villas: Vega de Pas, San Pedro de Romeral and San Roque de Rio Miera. Welcome to the beginning of Cantabrian time.
