Peña Cabarga lookout point

The most popular hill.

You can see this mountain from almost any part of the capital and the bay. For example, if you are standing on Pereda Promenade, you only have to look up to see the mountain that watches over the region, as though it was its guardian. This is Peña Cabarga, one of the region’s most popular hills. At 569 metres above sea level, it is a fantastic place to take in some of the most stunning views of Cantabria. Hordes of sportsmen, tourists and locals alike gather at its peak (which is easily accessible by car) to enjoy this exceptional view. If you stand at a specific point, you will be able to see the capital and the Bay of Biscay to the north, and Vega de Pas to the south. If you go down the south side, you will arrive at Cabarceno Natural Park. This mountain has been the final leg of the Tour of Spain cycling championships on several occasions.
