Mujaddara

Allow us to introduce you to another typical Israeli dish - although it must be said mujaddara is also considered historically Palestinian and is popular throughout neighbouring countries as well. It's a kind of stew based on lentils, rice, and bulgur wheat, and according to tradition popular over the centuries with the poor. It has also become a common part of the Israeli diet, and is prepared in various ways - often mixed with olives and fried onions. And here's an interesting fact: many folks here in Israel eat this just twice a week - hot on Thursdays and cold on Sundays!
