Fallas Museum
A window into a Valencian institution involving huge, often satirical papier-mâché figures
Dedicated to a festival that's the highlight of the year in Valencia
The Falles in March are among Spain's most famous celebrations, thanks to the ninots, enormous papier-mâché figures, many satirising politics, entertainment, and society in general, and all destined to be burned by the end of the festivities. All except for one, the ninot indultat, which is saved from the flames by popular vote and prominently displayed at the Museu Faller (Museo Fallero in Spanish), which contains all these surviving ninots indultats since 1934. It also includes posters, photos, and other documentation of this most Valencian of festivals. An invaluable peek into local culture.
