Seat selection

For your comfort on board and to ensure you can sit with family and friends, Iberia and Iberia Regional Air Nostrum give you the option of choosing your seat from the moment you book your flight.
This advance seat selection service is subject to a fee, the details of which you can find on the Advance seat selection page.

If you have already issued your ticket, you can check the conditions and select your seat in Manage your booking or in Online check-in.

If your booking provides this option, you can go to Manage your booking to see the layout of the plane and seat availability. If you place the cursor over the seat you want to select, the price will pop up if it is not already included in your fare.

You can only request these refunds in certain circumstances. Check the Early seat selection policy for more information and fill in this form for your request.

If you booked through a travel agency, you must process refund requests through them. You cannot do this at the airport or on board the plane.
The deadline for submitting a refund request is 14 days from the date of the last flight in your itinerary and all refunds will be made to the same payment method you used to book your paid seating.

Provided it did not require payment, you can change your previous seat selection at any time through Manage your booking. In the case of paid seat selections, you will only be able to change your selection when you check in online.

If the fare conditions of your ticket permit changes and you decide to change your flight, you can choose an equivalent seat on your new flight. In the case of paid advance seat selections, if there is no equivalent seat available or you change to a cheaper seat, the extra amount paid will not be refunded. If the seat you choose on the new flight is more expensive, you will have to pay the difference. Refunds of paid advance seat selections are only available under certain circumstances. Payment of seat selection with Avios is currently unavailable.

You can select a seat near the emergency exit on Iberia and Iberia Regional Air Nostrum flights. These seats include the Economy XL type so you will also have more space.
For safety reasons, you can only occupy these seats if you are able-bodied and can understand printed and verbal safety instructions given in Spanish or English.
You must also be 12 or over and have sufficient strength to open the emergency door, and you must be willing to help if the situation so requires.

You cannot select or occupy an emergency seat if:

• • You have difficulty moving quickly because of your height, physical complexion, age or illness.
• • You need a seat belt extension.
• • You are in an advanced stage of pregnancy.
• • You are travelling with other people in your charge who may require their help during an emergency situation.
• • You are travelling with a pet in the cabin.
• • You are taking medication that could prevent you from providing any assistance required.

Iberia guarantees that for bookings that include children between the ages of 2 and 12 at least one of the companions will automatically be allocated to the same row of seats as the child, or an adjacent row. This also applies to the companion of a passenger with reduced mobility, provided that this person is identified as such when the booking is made.
If you select seats with a surcharge, you do so voluntarily and the additional cost will be non-refundable.
