What does it mean when restrictions apply to the tariff shown, or if there are no restrictions?

When we speak of tariffs where restrictions apply we mean all those that have some type of limitation in the conditions that apply, that could refer to changes or refunds. Normally these are the lowest fares.

The tariffs without restrictions would be all those that allow changes and refunds. These are the "full economy tariffs" and the "full Business Class tariffs".

Most of the tariffs where restrictions apply DO NOT ALLOW refunds, returns or changes, or else there are associated fees for administrative services.

Melilla, Canary and Balear Islands resident's discount. How do I indicate this when I come to make the reservation via Iberia.com?

We offer you the option of indicating whether you are a resident of the Canary Islands, Balearic Islands or Melilla from our homepage.
Once you choose your flight origin and destination, tick the resident’s box and the flights we show you will appear with the discount already applied.

Later, on the Passenger information screen, you will be required to fill out the obligatory details to give you a resident's discount (type of accreditation document and municipality).

In order to benefit from the resident's discount via our Web page, all passengers associated with the reservation must have the right to a resident's discount, they must be Spanish citizens, citizens of other member states of the European Union or citizens of other States that are members of the European Economic Area (currently Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein), who can prove that they are resident in the Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Ceuta or Melilla and who are travelling between their place of residency (Residents of Ceuta, will only be entitled to the discount for journeys whose origen or destination is exclusively at Malaga, Jerez or Sevilla airports) and any other part of Spanish national territory. If any of the passengers is not a resident, they should make a reservation separately.

What is the electronic ticket number?

The electronic ticket number (TKT or e-Ticket) is a 13-digit code in which the first three numbers identify the airline that issued the ticket. The Iberia identifier is 075.

Once you have booked a flight via Iberia.com, you will receive a confirmation email indicating the number of your ticket. This number will always begin with 075, and will be followed by your booking code[Open in a new window] or localizer.
If it appears as "pending" (Request mail in progress), it means that the ticket is still being issued and you will receive the confirmation email with all the details when this process has finished. If you still do not receive a confirmation email, we recommend that for your own peace of mind you call our Iberia offices to check that everything is in order.

Once you have obtained your boarding pass, you will see the ticket number and booking reference at the top right-hand corner, under the barcode.

All fees and taxes levied on air transport, which may represent a significant part of the final price, are included in the ticket price and will be itemised, once they have been added to the ticket price, in the fees and taxes field.

We recommend that you keep your confirmation email with all your travel details until the end of your trip.

How can I buy a ticket for a person that lives in another city?

In the majority of cases and unless indicated during the booking process, provided the card used for payment is a Visa, MasterCard or American Express card, and that it is issued in the country where the flight originates, you can buy a ticket for another person.

There are security exceptions which obliges the payer to present the card for verification at the airport of departure. In such a case you will be advised during the buying process, on the payment page whether the cardholder is required to present the card at the airport on the day of departure. For the same reason it is not possible to pay for tickets using virtual cards .

If this rule is not adhered to, the passenger will not be allowed to board, being able to do so only by buying new tickets at that time.

There is also the option of collecting the ticket at an Iberia office[Open in a new window] or making the booking at a Travel Agency. Bear in mind that the ticketing fee may vary when choosing to buy other than via our website.

Can I travel with pets?

Pets (such as dogs, cats, birds, etc.) that meet legal and documentary requisites[Open in a new window] may be accepted as hold or cabin luggage.

Acceptance in the hold

Animals accepted in the hold: cats and dogs, except for snub-nosed and dangerous breeds.
Carry them in the hold in an appropriate cage or pet pack: resistant, secure, comfortable and ventilated. The number of cages or pet packs and their sizes is limited by the type of aircraft. If you intend to fly with your pet you should contact the Booking Office for authorisation. The trip can only be authorised when all of the flight legs are confirmed.

Acceptance in the cabin

Acceptable PETs in Cabin: dogs, cats, fish, turtles and birds (except birds of prey).
Take them with you in the cabin if they don’t weigh more than 8 kg. (including their cage or pet pack, except for guide dogs and emotional support animals) with previous authorisation from the Booking Office.
The container may be a maximum of 45 cm in length, 35 cm in width and 25 cm in depth, provided that the sum of those 3 measurements does not exceed 105 cm.

As the number of cages is restricted on the basis of the type of aeroplane, the carriage of animals must be authorised by the Booking Office.
Authorisation will only be given for journeys when all legs are confirmed.
The size and weight of animals must be in keeping with the limits established for inbound and outbound flights.

In no case will the animal be able to leave its carrier inside the cabin, and the passenger is responsible for looking after it.

Please remember that if the carrier does not meet the minimum conditions for acceptance, it will be refused boarding. You can purchase such a kennel at larger pet shops or specialist shipping agents.

Acceptance as air cargo

If you need to send your pet to travel alone, please contact us: IAGCargo

Is it possible to travel with a minor in different cabins (business/tourist)?

Yes you can, but there are other considerations to take into account:

  • The minor must be 5 years of age or more.
  • In the security area, a child will be considered an “unaccompanied minor, UM (from 5 to 12 years old)” which means that you must request the minor companion service. We remind you that there are a limited number of seats for UM's on board, and it may be the case that on the day of the flight there are no free seats left on the plane and specifically, in the cabin desired.
We therefore recommend booking well in advance. More information
  • As a special case, even though for Iberia the child will be an UM passenger on board and we are responsible for transport, the child's health, welfare and behaviour at all times will be your responsibility.
  • Even if they travel in the tourist cabin, they can access the VIP lounge as companion, if you are an Iberia Plus Gold or Platinum Client.

If the child is 12 or older, the minor does not need any special procedure. You can make the reservation in an individual way selecting the desired cabin.
