How to carry out your connection with another flight in Madrid

Schengen - No Schengen: Between Europe/Spain and America/Africa/Middle East

Although the U.K. and Ireland are not part of the Schengen area, arrivals and departures of Iberia flights (except some flights operated by Iberia Regional Air Nostrum) are through the same boarding gates as those for Schengen countries, whereas flight operated by British Airways do so via the usual non-Schengen gates.

Schengen - Schengen: between Europe/Spain and Europe/Spain

If your flight has as origin and destination an airport belonging to the Schengen space, on arriving at the terminal, check the boarding gate of your flight on the information screens. The boarding gate of your next flight is located in the same building and can be found easily and quickly (Gate H, J and K). The entire connection process requires approximately 15 minutes.

Very rarely, the connection is made with Gates M, in which case we request that you follow the indicating airport signs as you will have to go down to the platform to use the automatic train that connects with the Satellite Building.

Schengen - Not Schengen: Between Europe/Spain and America/Africa/Middle East

If the origin airport of your flight belongs to the Schengen space and the destination is an airport that does not belong to the Schengen space (America, Africa, etc.), on arriving at the terminal, check the boarding gate of your flight on the information screens. In order to board your next flight, you must go down the stairs or lift to the platform where an automatic train will transport you to the Satellite Building , where boarding gates R, S and U are located. Before accessing the boarding zone, there is passport control. Take into account that all this process requires between 20 and 30 minutes, we therefore recommend that you do not delay in transit.
Very rarely, the connection is carried out with Gates M , for which reason we request that you follow the indicating airport signs, as you don't have to change of terminal.

Not Schengen - Schengen: Between America/Africa/Middle East and Europe/Spain

If the origin airport of your flight does not belong to the Schengen space and your destination is an airport belonging to the Schengen space, including those in Spain, on arriving at the terminal check the information screens for the boarding gate of your flight and follow the indications for documentation control. Once this has been carried out, go down the stairs or lift to the platform where an ,automatic train will take you to the main building, where boarding gates H, J and K are located. Take into account that all this process requires between 20 and 30 minutes , for which reason we recommend that you do not delay in transit.

If the origin of your flight does not belong to the Schengen space nor your destination, you do not have to go through passport control. On arriving at the terminal, check your boarding gate on the information screens and follow the indications for connection with the Gates RSU.
