How many Elite Points do you need to reach the next Iberia Club tier?

We've updated the programme to make it easier for everyone to move up through the Iberia Club tiers. Plus, we've introduced Platino Prime, a new tier with exclusive benefits.

* In the last year between 1 April of the current year and 31 March of the following year. These flights must have an IB code (operated by Iberia or another partner in the Iberia Club programme) and the fare paid must be eligible for Elite Points.

 

 

 

How many Elite Points do you need to unlock Elite Rewards?

Elite Rewards are exclusive gifts you get when you reach different milestones on your journey to the next tier. For example, you can earn a discount voucher to upgrade your flight experience, extra Avios, double Elite Points and even an Iberia Club Oro card to give to anyone you want.

Here's how earning Elite Points can take you further

 

Carmen, Iberia Club Oro member

Plus, every time she flies she books hotels with Booking.com. Below are two comparisons of her Elite Points journey. The first stage shows the period up to 31 March: with the previous model, Carmen would have collected 4,060 Elite Points, 65% of the number she needs to reach Iberia Club Platino. The second stage shows the situation since 1 April: with the new model for earning Elite Points, Carmen collects 20,170 Elite Points, reaches the Platino tier and unlocks 2 Elite Rewards.

How many Elite Points you earn with your flight

All flights, whether with Iberia or other oneworld airlines, generate Elite Points for you. However, not all flights generate the same number of points. Depending on your destination, fare and the airline you have selected, you will earn more or fewer Elite Points.

This is how you earn Elite Points when you buy direct flights operated by Iberia Group and with IB code

€1 = 1 Elite Point

You'll earn 1 Elite Point per euro spent on the following items:

  • The net spend of your ticket, i.e. the fare and the operator's charges.

  • Travel add-ons: another bag, seat selection, cabin upgrades, etc. Even if you acquire them after you buy your ticket, they still generate Elite Points for you.

  • Taxes and fees are excluded.

Extra Elite Points

As well as earning Elite Points for every euro spent, you'll have the opportunity to earn extra Elite Points when you book flights with the Optimal, Comfort or Flexible fares, whether in Business, Premium Economy or Economy. You'll find all the details about these extra Elite Points below.

With Iberia Club partner airlines you'll also earn 1 Elite Point per euro spent on your purchase. Check the other benefits and particular conditions of each airline.

British Airways (BA)

You'll earn 1 Elite Point per euro spent on the following items:

  • The net spend of your ticket, i.e. the fare and the operator's charges.

  • Add-on services: another bag, seat selection and cabin upgrade. Travel add-ons acquired after you buy your ticket are also eligible for Elite Points, regardless of when you buy them.

  • Airport taxes, fees and any other charges are excluded.

Sometimes, for reasons beyond the control of Iberia Club, we can't determine the eligible spend on a flight. In these cases, points will be awarded as per the oneworld table based on distance and cabin.

Extra Elite Points

You'll also have the opportunity to earn extra Elite Points on each segment of your trip when you fly in First Class, Business and Premium Economy:

Sometimes, for reasons beyond the control of Iberia Club, we can't determine the eligible spend on a flight. In these cases, points will be awarded as per the oneworld table based on distance and cabin.

You'll also have the opportunity to earn extra Elite Points on each segment of your trip when you fly in First Class, Business and Premium Economy:

Vueling (VY)

Flights with a Vueling code (VY) or Iberia code (IB) operated by Vueling generate Elite Points according to the total eligible spend. You'll earn 1 Elite Point per euro spent on the following items:

  • The net spend of your ticket, i.e. the fare and the operator's charges.

  • Travel add-ons*: another bag, seat selection, etc. Travel add-ons acquired after you buy your ticket are also eligible for Elite Points, regardless of when you buy them.

  • Airport taxes, fees and any other charges are excluded.

For flights with a Vueling (VY) code operated by Iberia, you'll earn Elite Points as per the oneworld table based on distance and cabin.

Extra Elite Points

All tickets purchased on Óptima and Flexible fares on flights with Iberia (IB) codes operated by Vueling (VY) will earn extra Elite Points on each segment of your trip.

Level

On direct flights with Iberia (IB) code operated by Level, you will earn 1 Elite Point for every euro spent on the following items:

  • The net cost of your ticket, i.e.: the fare and the operator charges.

  • Additional services: extra baggage, seat selection and cabin upgrade. Travel add-ons purchased after the ticket purchase will also be valid to earn Elite Points, regardless of the time of purchase.

  • Taxes and airport or any other fees are excluded.

In the event that, for reasons beyond Iberia Club’s control, we are unable to determine your recorded spending on a flight, it will be scored according to the table based on distance and cabin of oneworld products.

All tickets purchased in Optima, Confort and Flexible fares on flights with Iberia (IB) code operated by LEVEL will accumulate extra Elite Points

oneworld airlines

With all other airlines that are not partners of Iberia Club but do belong to the oneworld alliance*, the Elite Points you earn are not based on the amount spent but on the distance flown, the booking class and the cabin you fly in.
