Latest update of our flights

As a result of the situation caused by the earthquake and the operational restrictions arising from it, flights to and from Caracas remain cancelled until 26 August.
To continue offering you a travel alternative, we have temporarily adapted our operation to fly to Arturo Michelena International Airport in Valencia (VLN), instead of Simón Bolívar International Airport in Caracas (CCS).

When will it be available?

• This route will operate from 26 July to 26 August 2026.

• Frequency: 2 weekly flights, Thursdays and Sundays.

• Tickets are already on sale through all our usual channels.

What are the differences in the onboard and airport service?

This special operation will only be available for a limited period and will be operated with an aircraft operated by a specialised provider, ensuring the highest safety and operational standards.

Due to the exceptional characteristics of this route, please bear in mind the following conditions for the Valencia (VLN) to Madrid (MAD) route:

• Onboard service: A reduced meal service will be offered and requests for special meals will not be available.

• Airport arrival: you must arrive at Valencia airport 5 hours before the scheduled departure of your flight.

• Mobility and accessibility: boarding and disembarking in Valencia (VLN) will be exclusively via stairs. For technical reasons, it is not possible to provide the assistance service for passengers with reduced mobility who require help boarding or leaving the aircraft.

Please bear these special conditions in mind before confirming your booking and when planning your trip.

Are all passengers with cancelled flights rebooked onto these flights?

Whenever possible, customers with affected flights between 25 June and 31 August have been automatically rebooked onto this route.
Steps to follow:

• Check your email or access Manage your booking directly to see the details of your new flight or request a refund if the assigned option is not suitable for you.

• If you still do not have an alternative assigned, you can manage it yourself by selecting one of the following options from Manage your booking:

  • Choose the option to fly to or from Valencia, Venezuela (VLN), between 25 June and 31 August.

  • Change the travel date to fly until 15 October 2026.

  • Change your route to alternative airports: Panama City (PTY) or Bogotá (BOG).

  • Request a refund of your ticket.

Due to the eruption of Mount Etna and the presence of volcanic ash, Iberia flights to or from Catania may be affected.

In this situation, which is beyond Iberia's control, we are offering alternatives to our customers so they can rearrange their trip more conveniently.

Who does it apply to?

Bookings that meet these conditions:

• Tickets purchased by 7 August 2026.

• Flights to or from Catania.

• Original flight date: up to 14 August 2026.

What options do we offer?

• Change the date of your trip to fly up to 25 August 2026, subject to availability.

• Change your route to alternative airports: Palermo (PMO) and Naples (NAP).

• Request a refund in the form of a voucher.

Important: 1 change is allowed.

How do I manage my booking?

If you purchased your ticket on iberia.com, through the App or via our Contact Centre, check whether you can now change your flight or request a refund online easily.

If you purchased your ticket through a travel agency, you need to contact the agency to process any changes.

The Ministries of the Interior of Italy and Spain have temporarily reactivated border controls for all flights between the two countries. This measure has been taken for security and migration-control reasons within the Schengen area.

Period of validity:

• From 00:00 on 1 August 2026.

• Until 01:00 on 1 September 2026.

Impact of the measure on your trip:

• Controls on arrival: If you travel between Spain and Italy on these dates, you may be subject to document checks upon landing at the destination airport.
  The authorities will carry out specific checks, mainly on third-country nationals (citizens from outside the European Union), to verify that they meet entry requirements.

• Required documentation: Remember to travel with your original valid ID card or passport and have it ready when you disembark to speed up airport procedures.

Due to planned maintenance work on the main runway at Buenos Aires Airport (Ezeiza), some of our flights between Madrid and Buenos Aires may be affected between 25 October and 11 November 2026. During this period, flights departing from Buenos Aires and bound for Madrid will make a technical stop in Montevideo for refuelling.

Given this situation beyond Iberia’s control, we are offering our customers alternative options so they can adjust their travel plans more conveniently.

Who does this apply to?

For bookings that meet these conditions:

• Tickets purchased up to 8 May 2026.

• Flights with origin or destination in Buenos Aires (Ezeiza Airport) operated by the Iberia Group (Iberia, Iberia Express and Air Nostrum).

• Original flight date between 25 October and 11 November 2026.

What options do we offer?

• Change the date of travel to fly between 15 October and 30 November 2026.

• Change the origin or destination to another airport located up to 300 km away.

• Request a refund as a voucher.

Important: 1 change is allowed. The refund will be issued as a voucher and will only be returned to the original payment method if the flight is ultimately cancelled (outbound or return).
