Tourist guide: what to do and see in São Paulo

São Paulo

São Paulo, a city that reinvents itself

Immense, diverse and always on the move, São Paulo combines parks, multicultural neighbourhoods, architecture, urban art and unexpected corners. A city that invites you to look beyond its wide avenues and let yourself be surprised.

São Paulo
in seven plans

Did you know that São Paulo is home to the largest Japanese community outside Japan? Tour with Carmen, an Iberia cabin crew member, some of her favourite spots and discover the contrasts of Brazil's largest city.

Hola, I’m Carmen, Iberia cabin crew member and today we’re travelling to Sao Paulo. Brazil's largest city. I’d like to show you my favourite plans so you can discover this amazing city. Coming along?

Welcome to Sao Paulo, we’ve just landed, it’s quarter to six in the morning and we’re going to rest and get ready to tour the city.

We start the day by recharging with a delicious açaí, then explore Sao Paulo’s green lung, Ibirapuera Park. It’s incredible to see all this nature in such a huge city.

Did you know that Sao Paulo is home to the largest Japanese community outside Japan? We’re in the Liberdade district, where this influence can be seen at every stall, in every shop, even in the traffic lights.

We are at the Municipal Market, one of the icons of the coffee metropolis. If we look up, we can see beautiful original stained glass windows from 1923. Oh! You can’t leave without trying the famous mortadella sandwich.

And we go straight to Praça da Sé, where, in addition to the zero milestone, we can see the majestic cathedral.

We start the night walking along Avenida Paulista. Surrounded by offices and skyscrapers, this great avenue is the perfect place to go shopping.

And we couldn’t end the night any other way than listening to Brazilian music. In this venue you can listen to live music and have a delicious drink.

I hope you enjoyed Sao Paulo as much as I did. See you in Madrid. See you soon.

Places to stray from
the usual route

Houses hidden among gardens, old villas, paths through the vegetation and markets for finding little treasures. Four ways to discover a different São Paulo and get away from its best-known places for a few hours.

From
the heights

To understand the scale of São Paulo, you have to see it from above. The viewpoints in the city centre allow you to observe a near-infinite landscape of avenues, buildings and neighbourhoods.

At Sampa Sky, several glass balconies project from the 42nd floor of the Mirante do Vale, about 150 metres above the ground.

Beco do Batman features a popular street art display in the Vila Madalena district.

Murals that speak
São Paulo

In Vila Madalena, façades turn into colourful canvases. Beco do Batman is one of the great references for São Paulo street art: an open-air route among murals that change over time, small galleries, workshops and creative spaces.
