Mexico City:
must-sees
Its metropolitan area is the largest urban concentration in the Spanish-speaking world in terms of population and has outstanding museums and theatres, five hugely important archaeological sites, major urban parks such as Bosque de Chapultepec, the largest in the Americas at 678 hectares, and a top-class culinary scene that ranges from traditional indigenous dishes to fine dining. Join us to discover the must-sees of Mexico City.
Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport. Hola, I'm Óscar, an Iberia crew member for 25 years. Today I'm flying to one of my favourite destinations: Mexico. Will you come with me?
Mexico City International Airport. It's 6 in the evening, 1 in the morning in Madrid. A quick shower at the hotel and we're off for a drink in the Polanco area.
Polanco. Mexico City. Blanca and I have come here after the flight for a drink in this area, which is full of restaurants and many options. But my favourite is Mexican food, and today we're starting with cochinita pibil tacos.
Good morning! People always ask me what I do to combat jet lag.
Bosque de Chapultepec. Mexico City. The best way for me is to do some exercise, and Mexico City offers me the perfect combination: cycling and sightseeing. We are in Bosque de Chapultepec and the Botanical Garden. It's one of my favourite places.
Angel of Independence. Mexico City. The Angel of Independence is one of the most iconic landmarks in Mexico City.
Zocalo Square. Mexico City. Next stop: the historic centre of Mexico. We are in Zocalo Square, the second largest in the world. The cathedral, the old town hall and many civic buildings. It's worth stopping here.
Palacio de Bellas Artes. Mexico City. Another of the most important places in Mexico City is Palacio de Bellas Artes. Come with me to another spot to see it better.
Is the view we have from here worth it or not? But please, don't tell anyone so it can stay a special place.
La Ciudadela Market. Mexico City. And no trip is complete without shopping. In this case, we're at La Ciudadela Market, my favourite in Mexico City. A must on this stop.
Soumaya and Jumex Museums. Mexico City. We reach the final part of our visit. We are in the area where the Soumaya Museum and Jumex Foundation are located. For me, two of my must-see museums in Mexico.
Now, back to the hotel, the uniform and off to fly.

Postcards from
Coyoacán
In the south of the city, Coyoacán offers a much calmer pace than the heart of Mexico City. Stroll through Plaza Hidalgo, where you will find the town hall, the former residence of Hernán Cortés, the parish church of San Juan Bautista and a sapling from the famous Oaxaca Tule Tree, an ahuehuete with the largest trunk diameter in the world, and explore its charming narrow streets, lined with imposing mansions from the 18th and 19th centuries.
Postcards from Coyoacán.
Can you imagine a place where every moment is an invitation to explore and daydream? That place exists, and it is called Coyoacán.
Walking through its cobbled alleys, with colonial houses full of colour, made me travel back in time. And trying all kinds of dishes made me fall in love with Mexican cuisine: from filled churros to its varied and delicious sauces.
And since I know you like souvenirs, I got you the perfect craft to decorate your home.
There were many places left to explore, but are you up for discovering them?

The Enigma of
Teotihuacán
There are still many mysteries about the origin of the pre-Hispanic city of Teotihuacán (“place where the gods were made”, in the Nahuatl language) and its inhabitants, the Teotihuacans, who numbered more than 100,000. Of this ancient seat of power with a huge influence on the route from Veracruz, and which may have covered around 20 square kilometres, only 2 kilometres remain today in a vast archaeological site open to visitors. It is 45 minutes from present-day Mexico City.

Another perspective | Get up early to take a balloon ride and see, from the air, the size and the surprising precision of Teotihuacán's street layout. Many companies offer this service at very competitive prices.
