Ticket changes and returns with Iberia

Information about permitted changes to your ticket and refunds. Discover the options for getting a voucher refund.

Can I cancel my ticket and get a refund?

The option to cancel your ticket or get a refund depends on the fare and whether or not you purchased the “Flexible Ticket” option as an extra when you booked your flight. Fares subject to restrictions do not allow refunds or changes, or if they do there is a penalty fee.
If you bought your ticket on iberia.com, you can check the refund terms and conditions in Manage your booking or call our Booking offices. And if you bought it through an agency, you should contact them.

Important: Management fees are non-refundable unless you request a refund due to a delay, flight cancellation and/or flexible booking in markets within the European Union.

What happens if I don't show up for a flight?

The failure to show up for any of the segments in your booking may constitute a unilateral modification the contract of carriage on your part. Please check the conditions of carriage for more details.

Can I change the name on a ticket?

Name changes for seat and/or ticket bookings are NOT allowed. We therefore kindly request that when you make your booking you enter your full name exactly as stated on the travel document you will show at the airport on the day of the flight.

If you need to correct the name on the ticket, you can request free rectification through our Booking offices in the following cases:

  • Add or remove the first or middle name. For example, María Dolores instead of Dolores, or vice versa.

  • Change one or more letters of the surname. For example, Fernández instead of Hernández; Martín instead of Martínez.

  • Correct a typo in the name/surname. For example, Fernández instead of FernáMdez.

  • Change the name to one of the official languages, e.g. Pere instead of Pedro.

  • Change the order of the surnames or include another one, leaving the name and original surname the same. For example, Vargas Pérez instead of Pérez Vargas; Martín Segura/Antonio instead of Martín/Antonio.

If you bought your ticket through an agency, you must contact them to request a name change.

Can I change my flight or get a voucher refund for my ticket?

At Iberia we offer different options for changing your flight if your plans change. There are several ways to ensure you have flexibility when you need it:

  • Our new Comfort fare in Economy includes a date change option.

  • Alternatively, you can add Flexible Ticket as an extra in any of the three versions available: voucher refund, one free change, or the option of using either version.

If you already have a voucher and want to use it, just enter the code on the payment page when you buy your new ticket. For more information about this or any matter, please check our Vouchers page. You can also combine several vouchers, check your balance or see the expiry date.

 

Ticket cancellation and refund in the event of death

In general, provided you supply the original death certificate and a photocopy of the Family Book, Iberia will authorise the refund of the ticket in the event of the death of a close relative (parent, child, spouse or in-law) of the ticket holder.

To manage your request, please contact the Booking Service. If your ticket was issued by a travel agency, please contact them.

Can I get a refund of the airport taxes paid for unused journeys or coupons on my ticket?

You always have the right to recover the money from airport taxes even if your fare doesn't allow refunds. In line with new regulations in Chile, airlines are required to refund these taxes proactively, without the need for a formal request from the passenger, after 10 days have elapsed since verification that the trip did not take place. We will therefore proceed to refund you through the same method used to buy your ticket, and if that is not possible we will make arrangements to contact you and request another refund method.

In any case, you can use this airport tax form in the following cases:

  • If for any reason you do not receive the refund. In the case of credit cards, there may be technical reasons beyond Iberia's control that prevent us from effecting the refund, such as the card's expiry or a deadline for cancelling charges.

  • If you want to request the refund of airport taxes for a past trip that was not verified. This will enable us to analyse the situation, respond to you if possible (sometimes it may not be if the deadline has passed) and, if so, refund you.
