La Vega del Segura is home to the sunny city of Murcia at only 40 kilometres from the Mediterranean Sea. With a lot of university life, the surrounding areas mix barren and dry landscapes with sea views and forests of Aleppo pine trees. If you look over the tree tops, you might see one of the birds of prey, such as an eagle, falcon, or eagle owl taking to the sky, and you'll be able to do this wearing short sleeves as there is an average temperature of 18 degrees throughout most of the year. The winters are mild and the summers are hot. In fact, anytime of the year is good for going to visit Murcia, but the Easter week, the parties during spring, or Murcia's fair in September will allow you to see the best of the city. Take advantage of eating well, as the best produce from Murcia's market gardens is guaranteed.
