What can I take in my hand luggage?

In the interests of your safety and to reduce movements on board, we recommend that you check in your cabin bag, free of charge, and only board the plane with a small bag or briefcase.

The allowance permitted will vary depending on the class you are travelling in, the origin and destination. In general, the piece of hand luggage admitted on board cannot exceed 56cm x 40cm x 25cm.. The maximum weight is 10kg for Economy class and 14kg for Business class.

As well as the applicable allowance, you may also carry some other personal item free of charge (max 40x30x15 cm): handbag, camera, folding umbrella, etc.

Please remember that, for security reasons, objects such as scissors and umbrellas with a sharp point, knives and all sharp items should be checked-in as hold baggage and never carried in hand luggage. Safety or disposable razor blades are permitted on board provided that they are set in their cartridge.

Blunt objects that can cause injury, such as selfie sticks, bats and mountaineering accessories like trekking and hiking poles, must also be checked in.

If you need to carry more than 100 ml of liquid medication or hypodermic needles (e.g., for diabetes) in your hand luggage, you must have a certificate from your doctor and show it at the security checkpoint.

Before boarding, you will need to take your laptop and any other large electrical and/or electronic device (tablet, video game console, hairdryer, travel iron, etc.) out of their cover or travel pouch and place them on a tray so that they can be inspected separately from your other hand baggage.

Can I take liquids in my hand baggage?

According to current regulations, (Regulation 1546/2006 of the European Union), there are limitations on liquids and similar substances that can be carried in hand luggage in the cabin for all customers leaving any airport in the European Union, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, Brazil, USA and South Africa.

As an exception, every passenger can carry small amounts of liquids or creams or similar products in their luggage in 100 ml. containers, which must be carried in a transparent plastic bag with adhesive or zip closure with a capacity not exceeding 1 litre and which must be presented separately from the hand luggage in security controls.

The following are exempt from this restriction:

  • Anybody travelling with babies may also carry baby milk or juice.
  • Wherever necessary, it is possible to take dietetic products, medication (liquid, gel or aerosol), insulin, and other necessary medicines in a sufficient quantity for the trip, which must be certified at the security controls.
  • All articles purchased by the passengers in the community airport shops, in the areas accessible only to passengers, or on board the planes of airlines of the European Union.

These limitations do not apply if the liquids travel in the hold in checked in luggage, although we recommend not to carry fragile or glass objects to avoid accidents (perishable and fragile articles travel under the customer's responsibility).
