The most eastern of the Canary Islands is a geological gem, with over one hundred volcanoes that have created impressive lunar landscapes and underwater realms.

Take one of our cheap flights to Lanzarote and discover these magnificent sights, as well as paradisiacal beaches and important natural parks, such as the Timanfaya Park. Deemed a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, it covers 41% of the island’s surface and is an astonishing example of a volcanic habitat.

The northern district of Haría is the greenest part of the island due to its microclimate, and is home to the Corona Volcano, where ‘Jameos’ (caves formed from the collapse of the volcanic tunnel) formed thousands of years ago, as well as fascinating and beautiful underwater canals. In 1968, the famous Lanzarote painter, sculptor and architect, César Manrique, transformed the famous Water Jameos into Lanzarote’s first architectural attraction. In addition to its incredible geological formations, Haría has the beaches with the whitest sand on the island. Other beaches, such as that of Famara in the Teguise district, are ideal for surfing and other water sports. The coast of the southern Tías region is a more touristic zone, with a large number of hotels. Don’t miss a visit to the port village of Puerto del Carmen and the wineries on either side of the Geria Valley.

To take in some of the island’s most important monuments, head to the island’s capital of Arrecife, home to various defensive castles, such as San Gabriel and San José, where you will find the International Museum of Contemporary Art in its fortress, designed by César Manrique.

As everyone knows, the fortunate Canary Islands are one hour behind mainland Spain. Lanzarote enjoys a very mild climate, with an average annual temperature of 22 degree Celsius and hardly any rainfall.

If you are taking a flight to Lanzarote, you'll find the airport situated 5 kilometres from Arrecife, the island's capital and Lanzarote's main point of communication with the outside world. Arrecife is also the centre of the island's economy as the place that receives the majority of the national and international tourists that visit the island. The airport used to be an important hub for charter traffic, but nowadays most of the flights are scheduled and international.
