Fare flexibility due to the eruption of Mount Etna

Due to the eruption of Mount Etna and the presence of volcanic ash, some of our flights to or from Catania may be affected.

In view of this situation, which is beyond Iberia’s control, we are offering our customers alternatives so that they can reorganise their journey more conveniently.

Who does this apply to?

Bookings that meet the following conditions:

Tickets purchased by 15 September 2026.
Flights to or from Catania.
Original flight date from 15 to 16 September 2026.

What options are available?

Change the date of your journey and travel up to 25 September 2026, subject to availability.
Change the origin or destination to Palermo (PMO) or Naples (NAP).
Request a refund in the form of a voucher.

Important: 1 change is permitted. The refund will be issued as a voucher and will only be returned to the original payment method if the flight is eventually cancelled (outbound or return).

If you bought your ticket on iberia.com, through the App or via our Call Centre, log in to check whether the change or refund is already available online for your booking; this is the quickest way to manage it.

We are gradually resuming our flights to Caracas

Following the suspension caused by the recent earthquake, we are pleased to inform you that we are preparing to resume flights to Caracas from September 3. Following confirmation from the authorities that Maiquetía International Airport is once again available for use, we will gradually resume our usual operations in Caracas. This allows us to coordinate every detail with the technical authorities to ensure, above all, a safe and orderly journey for you.

We greatly appreciate your patience and trust during this transition as we work to fully restore the service. Due to the operational and control procedures in place at the airport, we recommend arriving 4 to 5 hours before your flight departure to allow enough time to complete all the necessary formalities. Please consult this Traveller’s Manual for instructions on arrival and departure at Maiquetia International Airport (available in Spanish).

If you have a flight affected by the situation and your ticket was issued before 28 August, please remember that our flexibility policies remain in force to help you reschedule your itinerary at no additional cost:

Change the travel date to fly until 15 October 2026.
Change your route to alternative airports: Panama City (PTY) or Bogotá (BOG).
Request a refund of your ticket.

Flight flexibility in Doha

Due to the situation in the Middle East, we have cancelled some of our flights to/from Doha until 23 October. We are monitoring the airspace situation in real time and adapting our operations. Affected customers have been rebooked on flights operated by Qatar Airways to offer them an alternative travel option. Please check your flight status at Flight Status and keep your contact details up to date in Manage your booking so that we can keep you informed about your journey.

If your flight has been cancelled, you can request a date change or refund and process it online through Manage your booking.

Due to these circumstances, we have activated the following flexibility policy, and bookings with flights up to 24 October purchased before 28 August can, at no additional cost:

Change the date of your booking to fly up to 31 December 2026.
Request a refund for your ticket.
Change the origin/destination by up to 150 km.

If you booked directly with Iberia, you can process it online through Manage your booking. If you booked through a travel agency, you must contact them to modify your booking.

Temporary reinstatement of border controls on flights between Spain and Italy

The Ministries of the Interior of Italy and Spain have temporarily reactivated border controls for all flights between the two countries. This measure has been taken for security and migration-control reasons within the Schengen area.

Period of validity:

From 00:00 on 1 August 2026.
Until 01:00 on 15 September 2026.

Impact of the measure on your trip:

Controls on arrival: If you travel between Spain and Italy on these dates, you may be subject to document checks upon landing at the destination airport.
The authorities will carry out specific checks, mainly on third-country nationals (citizens from outside the European Union), to verify that they meet entry requirements.
Required documentation: Remember to travel with your original valid ID card or passport and have it ready when you disembark to speed up airport procedures.

Temporary suspension of the Havana route (from June 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027)

Due to the temporary suspension of the Havana route, some of our flights to or from Havana could be affected.

In view of this situation beyond Iberia’s control, we offer our customers alternatives so that they can reorganise their trip with greater convenience.

Who does this apply to?

For bookings that meet the following conditions:

Tickets purchased up to August 18, 2026.
Flights with Havana as their origin or destination operated by the Iberia Group (Iberia, Iberia Express and Air Nostrum).
Original travel date from June 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027.

What options do we offer?

Change the travel date to fly up to October 25, 2027.
Change the origin or destination to another airport located within 2,300 km, including Miami, Mexico City, Panama City and Santo Domingo.
Request a refund in the form of a voucher.

Important: 1 change is allowed. The refund will be issued as a voucher and will only be returned to the original form of payment if the flight is eventually cancelled (outbound or return).

Flight Flexibility in Tel Aviv

Due to the situation in the Middle East, some of our flights to/from Tel Aviv between 25 October and 9 December have been cancelled.

Due to these circumstances, we have introduced the following flexible policy for cancelled flights. Tickets purchased by 2 September 2026, with flight dates up to 9 December 2026, can be changed or refunded at no additional cost:

Change the date of your booking to any available flight date.
Request a full refund of your ticket using the original payment method.

If you booked directly with Iberia, you can process this online through Manage your booking. If you booked through a travel agency, you must contact the agency to modify your booking.

Maintenance works at Santiago de Chile airport (21 September to 3 November 2026)

Due to maintenance works at Santiago de Chile airport, some of our flights to or from this city may be affected between 21 September and 3 November 2026.

In light of this situation beyond Iberia's control, we are offering alternatives to our customers so they can reorganise their trip with greater flexibility.

During this period, flight IB118 to Madrid may make a technical stop in Rio de Janeiro for operational and refuelling reasons.

Who does this apply to?

For bookings that meet these conditions:

Tickets purchased up to 28 May 2026.
Flights with origin or destination in Santiago de Chile operated by the Iberia Group (Iberia, Iberia Express and Air Nostrum).
Original flight date from 21 September to 3 November 2026.

What options do we offer?

Change the date of your trip to fly up to 15 November 2026.
Change the origin or destination to another airport located up to 300 km away.
Request a refund in the form of a voucher.

Important: 1 change is permitted. The refund will be issued as a voucher and will only be returned to the original payment method if the flight is ultimately cancelled (outbound or return).

Maintenance work at Buenos Aires Airport from 25 October to 11 November 2026

Due to planned maintenance work on the main runway at Buenos Aires Airport (Ezeiza), some of our flights between Madrid and Buenos Aires may be affected between 25 October and 11 November 2026. During this period, flights departing from Buenos Aires and bound for Madrid will make a technical stop in Montevideo for refuelling.

Given this situation beyond Iberia’s control, we are offering our customers alternative options so they can adjust their travel plans more conveniently.

Who does this apply to?

For bookings that meet these conditions:

Tickets purchased up to 8 May 2026.
Flights with origin or destination in Buenos Aires (Ezeiza Airport) operated by the Iberia Group (Iberia, Iberia Express and Air Nostrum).
Original flight date between 25 October and 11 November 2026.

What options do we offer?

Change the date of travel to fly between 15 October and 30 November 2026.
Change the origin or destination to another airport located up to 300 km away.
Request a refund as a voucher.
