How can I request changes or a refund for a ticket?
If you decide not to travel, find out every thing you need to know about changes and refunds.
Check the change and refund conditions depending on whether your flight has been disrupted or your plans have changed:
-
If your flight is cancelled or delayed by more than five hours and you decide not to fly, you can claim a refund voucher that you'll receive instantly to use for future purchases with Iberia. You can also process the refund as cash returned to the payment method you used to make your booking. This process will take seven business days or longer in periods of high demand. Once your request has been processed, the money will take up to 30 days to reach your account, depending on the bank. You should contact your bank if it doesn't reach your account within that time.
If you bought your ticket with Avios, they will be returned to your Iberia Club account.
Regardless of the type of refund you choose, you must claim it through:1. Our WhatsApp channel: write Claim refund and follow the steps; or
-
If you want to cancel your flight and claim a refund for the price of the ticket, or if you want to change the date or time, you can do so if you chose a flexible fare in any of the Business, Premium Economy and Economy cabins, or if you added Flexible Ticket as an extra. Fares with restrictions don't allow refunds or changes, or if they do there is a penalty fee.
For tickets purchased on iberia.com, check the refund conditions in Manage your booking or call our Booking offices. For tickets purchased through an agency, contact them directly.
If you claimed your refund by phone through our Customer Service Call Centre, you can check the status of your claim through Refund claim tracker.
If you claimed it from the travel agency through which you made the booking, contact them to find out the status of your claim.
Important: Management fees are non-refundable unless you claim a refund due to a flight delay, cancellation and/or flexible booking in markets within the European Union.
What happens if I don't show up for a flight?
The failure to show up for any of the segments in your booking may constitute a unilateral modification the contract of carriage on your part. Please check the conditions of carriage for more details.
Can I change the name on a ticket?
Tickets and bookings are personal and non-transferable. It is not possible to change the ticket holder or replace one person with another.
However, if the first name or surnames in the booking contain transcription errors or small differences compared to your official identity document, you can request a free correction.
Corrections you can make in Manage your booking.
If the change affects a maximum of 3 characters, you can request it directly in Manage Your Booking.
For example:
-
Error in one letter when transcribing first names/surnames. For example, FernáMdez instead of Fernández.
-
Changing one or more letters of the surname. For example, Fernández to Hernández; Martín to Martínez.
Corrections you must request through our Booking Offices.
If you need to make any of the following changes, please contact our Booking offices in these cases:
-
Adding or removing the first or second name. For example, María Dolores to Dolores or vice versa.
-
Changing the name to use one of the official languages For example, Pedro to Pere.
-
Changing the order of the surnames or including another one, keeping the first name and the other surname the same. For example, Vargas Pérez to Pérez Vargas; Martín/Antonio to Martín Segura/Antonio.
Important
These corrections can only be used to make the booking details match your official documentation. They cannot be used to transfer the ticket to another person.
In addition, it is normal for first names and surnames to appear together or without spaces on the ticket. The system displays them this way automatically and it does not affect your trip.
If you purchased your ticket through a travel agency, you must request the correction directly through them.
How do I get and use a refund voucher?
If your flight has been disrupted for a reason beyond our control, has been cancelled or has been delayed for more than 5 hours and your fare allows refunds, or you added the Flexible Ticket option, you can request a refund voucher for the ticket amount to use on another date.
If you already have a voucher and want to use it, just enter the identifier on the payment page when you buy your new ticket.
For more information and answers to any other questions, please check our Refund Vouchers page, where you can also combine several vouchers, check your balance and see the deadline for use.
Ticket cancellation and refund in the event of death
In general, provided you supply the original death certificate and a photocopy of the Family Book, Iberia will authorise the refund of the ticket in the event of the death of a close relative (parent, child, spouse or in-law) of the ticket holder.
To manage your request, please contact us through this form. If your ticket was issued by a travel agency, please contact them.
