Equipajes especiales

Want to travel with your guitar or golfing equipment, or need to take a bulky item? When you fly with us, you can take everything you need.

Book your sports equipment (bike, golf clubs, diving gear, etc.), musical instrument online and find out how you can take your wheelchair, the requirements for travelling with firearms or luggage that exceeds the conventional dimensions or weight.

Acceptance of the odd-shaped luggage will be subject to validation at the airport check-in counter and, if accepted, a specific supplementary charge will be applied.

Add and pay for the service when you book your ticket through Manage your bookingor when you check in online.

Prices for the carriage of special baggage

Please check the price chart to find out the fees for taking special luggage on short, medium and long-haul flights.

Remember, sporting equipment that is accepted free of charge on long-haul flights is treated as an item of checked baggage. This means that if you exceed the number of items included in your checked baggage allowance, it will be treated as additional baggage.
If you are going to add special baggage at iberia.com or the Iberia App, the price will vary depending on when you add it: you can get the lowest price while you are booking your ticket, and the highest price during the check-in process. In all cases, for all services the online prices will always be lower than the airport prices.
Payment for firearms and excess weight can only be processed at the airport.

Odd-shaped luggage

Odd-shaped luggage refers to any item which, due to its shape, dimensions or material, is subject to limited acceptance and may interfere with the automatic check-in and baggage handling systems at airports.
It includes, for example, items made of flexible fabric and/or that are oval, round or spherical in shape, as well as soft plastic or plasticised packages or bags and packaging for domestic or rudimentary use.

This type of luggage requires specific handling and treatment. We therefore reserve the right to refuse it for safety or operational reasons if it does not meet the necessary conditions.
Its acceptance will be subject to inspection at the check-in desk, which will imply the following conditions:

  • These items can only be checked in at the special baggage desks.

  • In the event of operational restrictions, these items may be placed in a special hold or, exceptionally, sent on a later flight.

  • A specific supplementary charge will be applied in accordance with the current price table.

Firearms

Whether hunting or sport equipment, firearms and ammunition are treated as dangerous items and must therefore be carried in the hold. You will be charged the relevant fee at the airport.
Hunting and sport shooting equipment is considered to cover the group of items comprising only:

Rifles and shotguns (long weapons):
Two rifle or shotgun cases with no more than two rifles or shotguns in total and a maximum of five kg of ammunition per passenger in one or more boxes. One additional case or bag for shooting sports equipment (suit, gloves, footwear, etc.).

Conditions of acceptance on the flight
Weapons must be unloaded, disassembled and packed in an appropriate case. Ammunition must be packed in a separate case made of wood, metal or pressed cardboard, duly labelled and identified on the outside and with the airline's knowledge.

To board a direct or connecting flight from any airport in Brazil on which you want to take or check in a fire arm, you must register on SISCAER ARMAS (only available in Portuguese).

Check-in
Before you check in firearms and ammunition, you will need to go to the Firearms Office at the airport and fill in the paperwork. Carry the original form yourself and put the copy inside the case containing the firearm.
On arrival, you will have to collect your firearms from the Firearms Office at the destination airport if you are travelling in Spain, or where indicated by the authorities if you are travelling to another country.

Please check the price chart to find out the cost.

Check the procedure for travelling with firearms to/from Brazil as per the Brazilian National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) regulations (only available in Portuguese).
