The authorities require you to accept a Health declaration to confirm that you have no symptoms, have not been diagnosed with COVID-19, have not been in direct contact with anyone who has the disease, and are not under mandatory quarantine. You can access the form during online check-in or at the airport. Remember, if you have any symptoms, please stay away from the airport and get in touch with us.
If you are travelling to Spain from abroad, you will have to fill in a “Health control form” in the 48 hours before your flight. You can either fill in the form on the website www.spth.gob.es or download the app to your phone. You will need to enter your seat number on the form, so we recommend that you check in online first. When you have filled in the form, you'll receive a QR code to download or print. You must show this code on arrival.
To plan your journey as smoothly as possible, be sure to check in advance the restrictions and requirements currently in place in different countries.
The Spanish Aviation Safety and Security Agency has restricted access to Spanish airports to passengers only. Companions are only permitted for passengers who require assistance, people with reduced mobility (PRM) and unaccompanied minors (UM). Many airports in other countries have introduced similar restrictions for companions.
In line with the current regulations, the use ofa surgical mask or one providing greater protection (without an exhalation valve), covering the nose and mouth, is compulsory for everyone aged six and over when boarding the plane and throughout the flight.
You should also take enough masks for the duration of the journey. You can also take hand sanitiser on board provided you follow the rules on liquids in hand baggage.
We recommend that you arrive at the airport in good time (but no more than six hours before the scheduled departure of your flight). Some countries have introduced new controls so it may take longer to go through security. Besides, some airports have temporarily closed their fast lanes.
For your safety, the airports authority has reinforced the cleaning procedure with special products for all customer contact points.
To respect the social distancing measures, we've introduced a new queueing system for check-in and boarding and installed screens at all customer service points. Besides, all our staff use personal protective equipment.
Please remember to keep a safe distance at all times and avoid physical contact with other people and surfaces.
En el aeropuerto, siempre que te sea posible, utiliza nuestras máquinas auto check-in para facturar tu equipaje o imprimir tu tarjeta de embarque.
Remember, you can check in your hand baggage free of charge (except for Iberia Regional Air Nostrum flights) to minimise contact on board and travel more comfortably.
Airport security controls may take longer than usual so please get to the airport in good time.
In compliance with the safety recommendations, boarding will be by row, from rear to front, to maintain the greatest possible distance between passengers. Please wait until your row is called and maintain social distancing while boarding the plane.
Boarding by group and priority boarding have been suspended for now.
Once you have gone through the security filter, you will reach the boarding area.
You may find that many of the restaurants and shops are closed. The vending machines may also be out of order.
Remember, if you are not wearing the obligatory face mask, we will be obliged to deny you boarding.
Unfortunately, some of our VIP lounges are currently closed. At Madrid-Barajas airport, you can use the Dalí VIP lounge with complete peace of mind and confidence because we've implemented a set of exceptional measures. The Velázquez VIP lounge service is temporarily unavailable.
The air in our cabins is renewed every three minutes, removing 99.9% of the germs and impurities, which means viruses and bacteria as well. So all you have to worry about is enjoying your flight.
We've also implemented a more rigorous cleaning procedure for all elements on board, such as folding tables, safety belts, armrests and headrests, toilets, etc., which are now cleaned more frequently and more thoroughly.
The use of face masks is compulsory throughout the flight. Remember, single-use masks must be changed every four hours.
As part of our COVID19 health and safety protocols we have adapted our service, temporally removing or amending some products to minimize interactions between customers and crew. Drinks will be served with each meal and will be limited to one at this point in time.
The buy-on-board service is currently unavailable, as are special meals on some of our routes. We've also removed newspapers and magazines from seats. Download our digital newspapers and magazines.
When you land at the destination airport, wait until the crew announces the procedure for disembarking. Try to maintain a safe distance from other passengers as you leave the plane and keep your face mask on.
Depending on the airport, when you reach the terminal you will either have to hand in a form or show it on your phone. You may also have your temperature taken with a thermal camera or non-contact thermometer, and visual observations may be used to identify passengers with apparent signs of ill health. Remember, some destinations require a negative PCR test or similar so please be sure to check what documents you will need before your journey.
If you are entering Spain from abroad, you must present the “Health control form”, showing either the QR code you downloaded when you filled in the form online OR the printed form you filled in on the plane or at the departure airport. The procedure takes longer with the printed form so we recommend that you fill in the form in advance on the Spanish government website (www.spth.gob.es).
Remember, each region in Spain has its own restrictions in addition to the general ones for the whole country. Please be sure to check them.
Maintain social distancing while waiting for your baggage and approach the belt individually to collect it.
If someone is picking you up at the airport, remember that they will have to wait outside the terminal. Entry is only permitted if the person being collected has special needs or is an unaccompanied minor.
