When does the resident discount apply?
The discount for residents only applies to direct and connecting flights between mainland and non-mainland airports (except for residents of Ceuta, who are eligible for the discount for flights between Seville, Málaga and Jerez and other destinations on the mainland).
When you have chosen the origin and destination of your flight, if the combination is eligible for the discount the Residents dropdown menu will appear. Select the Resident option as appropriate and the flights will appear with the discount already applied.
This subsidy is granted by the Spanish government and does not apply if you choose to pay for tickets with Avios.
When I book on iberia.com, how do I indicate my right to a discount as a resident of the Canaries, Balearics, Ceuta or Melilla?
Select one of these two options to apply the resident discount for the Canary Islands, Balearic Islands or Melilla on the purchase of direct or connecting flights between mainland and non-mainland airports (except for residents of Ceuta, who are eligible for the discount on flights between Seville, Málaga or Jerez and other mainland destinations):
- On the Home page, select your flight origin and destination and then tick the resident box. The flights displayed will already include the discount.
- Alternatively, if you didn't tick the resident box on the Home page, you can do it during the purchasing process once you have selected your flights.
When you reach the Passenger information screen, we'll ask you for the necessary details to apply the resident discount (document type proving your status and place of residence).
Remember, to avoid issues with the verification of your proof of residence, enter your first name and surname exactly as they appear on your identity document. Don't use pet names, short forms or any other variations.
To be able to apply the resident discount on our website, all passengers in the booking must be entitled to it, i.e., they must be citizens of Spain, other European Union member states or other states that have signed the Agreement on the European Economic Area (currently Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein) or Switzerland.
All passengers must also be able to prove their status as residents of the Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Ceuta or Melilla and they must be travelling from the place of residence to another part of Spain. Any passengers who aren't residents will need to book separately.

What is the resident subsidy?
The residence subsidy is a discount of up to 75% on the fares of regular air transport services, granted by the Spanish government.
The discount is available for citizens of Spain, European Union member states, other countries in the European Economic Area (currently Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein) and Switzerland who can prove they are residents of the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Ceuta or Melilla and are travelling between the place of residence and any destination within Spain.
The valid document for proving residence in a non-mainland part of Spain (both for Spanish citizens as well as those of the European Economic Area and Switzerland) is the residence certificate issued by the municipal council where you are registered.
