The maximum weight of each piece is as stated in your baggage allowance, but you can take up to 32 kg on payment of an excess baggage fee. We do not accept bags over 32 kg.
All checked baggage is personal and non-transferable: each passenger must check in their own item.
There are some exceptions.
Some items of luggage, such as flexible bags and round luggage, as well as soft plastic or plasticised packages or bags, packaging for domestic or rudimentary use and non-conventional packaging, are subject to limited acceptance and are treated as special baggage, with specific conditions and prices.
If you need to take more luggage, you can add up to 9 bags (depending on your destination), including the ones in your luggage allowance, either when you make your booking, from Booking management, or later on during online check-in.
Select the weight of your extra bag and only pay for what you need:
15 kg. If you are travelling with essentials only.
23 kg. The typical suitcase (some routes currently only allow this option).
32 kg. If you need to take more than usual.
If you take more baggage than your allowance and you have not previously added it on our website, we advise you to arrive at the airport before the recommended time.
Collect 1 Avio and 1 Elite Point per euro spent on your purchases. You can also multiply your Avios based on your Iberia Club tier.
If you are going to add baggage at iberia.com or the Iberia App, the price will vary depending on when you add it: you can get the lowest price while you are booking your ticket, and the highest price during the check-in process. In any case, the highest online prices will always be lower than the prices at the airport.

The prices for additional 23 kg baggage shown in the Baggage Calculator are for guidance only, as they vary depending on the time of purchase and do not take into account destination-specific exceptions. In any case, the maximum online prices will always be lower than airport prices.
If your bag weighs more than your baggage allowance, and provided it's less than 32 kg, you will have to pay an additional fixed cost per kg to check it in at the airport. In this case, it may be cheaper for you to add an extra bag on iberia.com or in the Iberia app. The price will vary according to the destination.

Bags and other items exceeding 190 cm in length are not permitted.
Cash payments are not accepted at Heathrow airport.
Animals are not permitted in the cabin (PETC) on flights to London, or in the hold (AVIH) on flights to/from London. However, they are permitted to travel as cargo.
Discount tickets for minors, i.e., children (aged 2 to 11) or infants (under 2) will have the same allowance as an adult and may also cover a foldable stroller or a car seat.
On flights to/from Bolivia, the baggage allowance for the infant ticket will be one item only.
Please remember that each airline establishes an allowance that passengers can carry on their flights at no extra charge and in accordance with the weight, dimension, contents and conditions of each company. You can find the details of the airline that operates your flight at bookings management. Check with the operator to confirm your baggage allowance and other restrictions.
The allowance that is best for the customer with an Iberia ticket directly to the final destination will be applied, even if the flight involves several connecting legs. If you are travelling with different tickets, the corresponding allowance for each one will apply. You only can check your baggage for connecting different flights, provided that the locator or booking reference is the same.
If you are travelling on an Iberia flight operated by Vueling with an Iberia or Iberia Regional connecting flight, the Iberia baggage carriage conditions will apply throughout the whole journey to your destination, both in terms of baggage allowance and excess weight.
If you are travelling to/from Algeria, the baggage allowance will be a maximum of 1 x 30 kg item per passenger (infant included).
The policy of the operator is that these surcharges for excess baggage kilos or pieces apply to each leg flown and not to trips (departure-arrival airport).
If you are travelling on a code-share flight, you will have the baggage allowance that appears on your ticket for each flight. For excess weight, excess baggage, etc., the baggage regulations of the company that operates the flight will apply.
If your ticket includes an Iberia flight and a flight with another airline, the baggage allowance of the company that operates the most significant flight will apply. If Iberia is the first company, the allowance that appears on the ticket will apply.
If you bought separate tickets with different airlines, the baggage allowance of the respective operator will apply to each ticket.
If you are flying with JetBlue (B6) from Santo Domingo to Puerto Rice (or vice versa), remember that this company does not allow you to carry anything in the hold other than:
Passengers flying in economy, with two pieces of 23 kg each.
Passengers flying in Business class, three pieces of 23 kg each.
In no case can you carry or buy extra baggage or excess weight.
Additional baggage allowances offered by each airline will only be valid for that airline's flights.
Checked baggage allowance of codeshare companies, i.e., oneworld and associated firms, can differ. For excess weight, excess baggage, etc., the baggage regulations of the company that operates the flight will apply. When you book you will find the details on the airline company that will operate your flight at bookings management. Check with the operator to confirm the baggage you can check in and other restrictions.
A maximum total of 9 checked baggage items is permitted, including those included in your free baggage allowance plus any additional baggage you may need to purchase, except on routes with specific restrictions:
On flights to or from Dakar, the maximum number of checked bags allowed is 2 due to operational restrictions on the route.
On flights to or from Santo Domingo, the maximum number of checked baggage items allowed is 3.
On flights to Havana, the maximum number of checked baggage items allowed is 3.
