Iberia Increases Its Capacity With the DominicanRepublic by Over 20% in the Winter Season

Iberia will gradually increase its flights between Madrid and SantoDomingo to 11 weekly frequencies.

Iberia launched its schedule for the upcoming winter season on the route tothe Dominican Republic, which will see significant growth in capacitybetween Madrid and Santo Domingo.

During this period, which runs from the end of October 2024 to March nextyear, Iberia will gradually increase its flights to 8 weekly frequencies inNovember, 10 in December, and 11 in January. In February and March, itwill also have 10 weekly frequencies.

This will mean an increase in the total seat capacity that Iberia will offer onthis route. In the winter season alone, there will be almost 125,000 seatsconnecting the Caribbean island with Europe, over 20% more than last yearand 50% more than before the pandemic, in 2019.

Iberia also shows progress in the total capacity it deployed over 2024, as awhole, with around 230,000 seats available between the DominicanRepublic and Europe. This is an increase of 11% compared to last year andis close to pre-pandemic figures.

Greater Capacity with a Premium Economy Cabin

Beyond the general increase in seating capacity between Spain and theDominican Republic, another new feature during the upcoming winter season is the wider introduction on this route of the A330-300, a state-of-the-art aircraft that uses around 15% less fuel than its predecessors.

The main difference compared to the A330-200 that usually operates thisroute is that the A330-300 has more seats and offers customers from theDominican Republic Premium Economy seats in a completely different cabin.With only a slight increase in price, this cabin offers wider and morecomfortable seats, larger screens, more reclining capacity and legroom, anda different onboard experience, with a different meal, served on tableware,among other perks.

Iberia will operate the route between Madrid and Santo Domingo up to fivetimes a week with the A330-300.
