Iberia increases flights to Tokyo

The airline will add an extra weekly frequency between Madrid and Tokyo

Iberia is strengthening connectivity with Asia by adding an extra weekly frequency to its Madrid–Tokio route between August and November. The airline currently operates three return flights per week and will introduce a fourth weekly service, departing Madrid every Friday from Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport and and returning from Tokyo on Saturdays.

This seasonal increase will boost capacity on the route by 33%, adding approximately 9,000 extra seats over the period. The expansion reinforces Iberia's commitment to the Japanese market, where it launched operations in 2024, and responds to growing demand for Japan as a travel destination.

Across the full year, Iberia will offer 125,000 seats on the Madrid–Tokyo route. The connection contributes nearly €100 million to the combined GDP of Spain and Japan and supports around 1,900 direct and indirect jobs, further consolidating the route as a strategic bridge between Europe and Asia.

The route is operated with the Airbus A350, offering capacity for 348 passengers across Business, Premium Economy and Economy cabins. Iberia has also tailored the onboard experience to Japanese customers, with Japanese-language entertainment, locally inspired menus and thoughtful touches such as green tea, rice and chopsticks.
