National

Over 14 years of age: National identification card (DNI) or passport, not necessarily current, or a driver’s licence issued in Spain.

For children under 14 without an ID card or passport, the authorities may ask to see a document to verify their identity. This could be the Spanish "libro de familia", the minor's individual registration, a notarial certificate or an authorisation formalised through a police station.

Passport or valid ID, not necessarily current.

Clarifications to the documentation check.

The following definitions are used when applying the new security measures for checking documentation:

  • Trip title: Validly issued, current and with expiry date and limitations for its use in each specific case.

  • Travel documentation for refugees: Issued in accordance with the 1951 Geneva Convention on refugee status

  • Travel documentation for stateless persons: Issued in accordance with the 1954 Convention on stateless person status.

  • Other valid travel documents: Apart from the three mentioned above, the Spanish Ministry of the Interior provides for the possibility of travelling with other travel documents, such as a Seafarers’ Identification and Record Book or Seafarer’s Identity Document, although their use is less common.

Benodigde documenten voor minderjarigen

Alle passagiers ouder dan 14 jaar moeten een ID-kaart of paspoort bij zich dragen.

Op nationale vluchten zijn personen jonger dan 14 jaar hiertoe niet verplicht, maar als zij dit bij zich hebben, worden ze eenvoudiger geïdentificeerd.

Op de internationale vluchten (Europese en derde landen) moeten, daar er geen standaardnorm bestaat, alle minderjarige personen begeleid of niet, onafhankelijk van de leeftijd, hun eigen ID-kaart of paspoort bij zich dragen (met door de politie uitgegeven machtiging als ze alleen reizen), naast dat voldoen moet worden aan de vereisten van het land van bestemming.

If your documentation has been lost or stolen

Having reported loss to the state security forces will not be valid proof of the passenger’s identity. A state security civil servant may prove the identity, although this accreditation will only be valid to check your identity at the boarding gate on domestic flights and will not be enough to be accepted in the country of destination.

SAE Programme to enter Mexico

Iberia is registered to the SAE programme and as such, electronic authorization can be processed through the National Migration Institute of Mexico's website by passengers with Russian, Turkish or Ukrainian nationality who wish to travel to Mexico.
